CP-84 Chrome Plated Waterway

Smeal’s exclusive CP-84 Waterway is designed to be the strongest, most resilient waterway on the market.

Easy Access Turntable Bolts

No need to crawl into the torque box. Turntable bearing bolts can be torqued through four access holes from the top side of the turntable.

EHL (Ergonomic Hose Load)

Keep the firefighters off the top of the truck. Easy to reload and easy to lay hose. No hose chutes for the hose to get hung up. Holds 1000' of 5" LDH. Available with divider for multiple hose loads.

FP-4 Stabilizing System

The FP-4 Stabilizing System enables the Smeal apparatus to operate safely on almost any terrain. Designed for optimum balance and stability, the FP-4 is one of a kind.

Hot Dip Galvanized Stabilizer Beams

Stabilzer beams are hot dip galvanized for maximum protection from road salt and other corrosives.

Milled Turntable Surface

The turntable surface is milled so the turntable bearing is placed on a flat surface. This creates a perfectly flat surface for the rotation bearing to mount and creates a strong bond with no flex between the bearing and the turntable surface.

Safety Pins

There is a safety pin supplied for each stabilizer. The handle is bright yellow tool dip covered so it is easy to see that the pins have been installed.

Tracking Lights

Available in Collins and Unity brands, these lights illuminate the underside of the aerial structure to help avoid placing it on buildings or power lines. An additional set is place at the tip of the aerial.

Platform Options

Continuous Handrail

No matter what the climbing angle is, this continuous handrail will allow for safe and easy egress to and from the platform.

Intercom System

Atkinson may be the standard, but you can also select David Clark, Sigtronics or FireCom. We offer a multitude of custom configurations to meet your communication needs.

Proportional Controllers

Smeal Platforms have proportional electronic controllers located at the front of the platform. They give the same operation and touch as direct hydraulic controls.

Repelling Arm/Stokes Mounting

Our repelling arm swings out when needed and stows away when not in use. This repelling arm also doubles as a mounting station for a stokes basket when it is swung to the left.

Single or Dual Monitors

Single and dual monitors available from 1500 to 2000 GPM flow ratings. Available in Akron, Elkhart and TFT.

Body Features

Adapter, Turndowns, Caps & Plugs

The Smeal standard is chrome plated brass, with options for aluminum style. We package them for delivery inside the truck so they do not get damaged or lost in route.

Crosslay Webbing

Webbing on the crosslays is just one of the many methods Smeal offers to hold the hose in the crosslays. We also offer vinyl and even treadplate options.

GS-36 Substructure

Smeal started with the idea of isolating the body from the frame to prevent undue stress, incorporated the tank cradle and ultra strong tow eye into the design, and constructed it with 36,000 psi galvanized steel.

Notched Running Boards

We have a standard 74" wide pump house. So, if you have a piston relief valve that may not clear the running board, you can always order a notched running board. Note: Most PRVs do clear.

QL-12 Electrical System

The Smeal QL-12 Electrical System is the next generation of electrical systems in the fire apparatus industry. The Quick Link design features plug-style connections and greater reliability.

Rear Body Mount

Smeal exclusive rear body mount allows for independent flexing of the body, subframe, and chassis frame.

Secondary Valve Guides

When a control rod to a valve is at an increased angle, we take the extra step to add a guide to keep the control rod from binding.

Smeal Traditional Rear Deck

This is the Smeal Traditional Rear Deck, which incorporates fire extinguisher compartments and a full width rear step area to aid in loading hose. It is better known as the "Buffalo Butt".

Speedlays Ahead of the Pump

One of the many crosslay and speedlay configurations available.

Three Cylinder Air Bottle Compartment

Also available in a four cylinder version for smaller air bottles. Utilizes the same door and space as the three bottle design. The storage area is rubber lined and lighted.
