Job Description:

Mechanical background and welding experience is needed for this position.

Essential Functions for Fabricator:
1.  Must be able to follow written and verbal work orders and instructions in English.
2.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be in good physical condition.
3.  Must follow all company policy and procedures as stated in the company policy and safety manual including wearing safety glasses, ear protection, and steel toed shoes.
4.  Must be able to work in a noisy environment.
5.  Willingness to work overtime.
6.  Must be able to perform duties within standard times specified with no scrap or rework.
7.  Must have comprehensive knowledge of the companies product lines, usage and optional equipment.
8.  Must actively pursue cost reduction measures through method improvement, time studies and           ergonomics.  Must also maximize time utilization through better planning.
9.  Must have ability to MIG or TIG weld proficiently.
10.  Must be able to fit, design, draft and order small manufactured components required for assemblies.
11.  Must be able to setup all equipment and perform minor adjustments and repairs.
12.  Requires only occasional supervision for standard work assignments.
13.  Must assist  in training new employees learning specific job requirements.
14.  Must progressive increase knowledge and experience of all tasks performed in the particular Fabrication area assigned.

Daily Job Activities:
1.  Drill holes, drains, and wiring holes.  Drill weight:  4-5 lbs.  Strong arms/wrists needed due to force of drills and twisting motion often used.
2.  Perform basic welding, approximately 1 hour per day.
3.  Hook up valves.
4.  Assemble trays, shelves & doors.
5.  Job involves climbing and crawling on trucks and ladders more frequently than ground level work.

Job Description:
CAD Draftsperson
Basic Purpose: Uses CAD equipment to do a higher level of design work and prepare routine layouts and detail drawings, sketches and diagrams.  Project details include all product views and dimensions necessary for manufacture.     

Duties and Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
1.  Under supervision of a Cad Designer or higher, create drawings and bills of materials for components and body assemblies.  This includes making layout drawings, and detail drawings as required by development of a new product or revising an existing product.
2.  Support Engineering Department progress to complete drawing revisions in a timely manner for release to Production. 
3.  Ability to make most decisions on own but can refer some questions/problems to CAD Designers or higher. 
4.  Makes copies of drawings and documents design changes.
5.  Ability to do mechanical design and layout drawings with in level of product knowledge
6.  Assist with support of customer service functions of SFA as assigned to resolve mechanical system concerns by working with Production and Material Control personnel as required by individual cases.  Produce documentation while providing help on sales orders or products for future reference in s/o files.
7.  To the extent defined by Engineering Supervision, is familiar with and supports requirements of SFA’s company management software (Made2Manage) as relating to engineering parameters, bills of material, etc.
8.  Provide hands-on assistance to shop personnel for manufacture/assembly of products as appropriate where necessitated by complexity of projects or priorities for project goals.
9.  Under direction of Lead Cad Designer or higher, organize and maintain records of materials, drawings, spreadsheets, test results, job histories, etc. of projects for future reference.
10.  Follow written and verbal work orders and instructions in English, including all company policies and procedures documented in SFA Policy and Safety Manuals.
11. Utilize a variety of software programs such as spreadsheets, databases, CAD programs, Windows, etc.

Non-Essential Functions
1. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
1.   High school with two year technical school with emphasis on drafting and math or equivalent   experience and training.
2.   CAD proficiency (preferably AutoCad 2000 or above); minimum two years experience with computer aided drafting. 
3.   Solid Works proficient
4.   Has good product knowledge.
5.   Is mechanically inclined.
6.   Proficiency in the following programs: Excel, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word
7.   Familiarity with mechanical or automotive systems and components through work experience.
8.   Organizational skills to carry out more than one task simultaneously with only limited supervision.
9.   Ability to perform rigorous physical activities associated with checking, trouble shooting,
10. Collecting data and information in the shop, or otherwise assisting with requirements of industrial manufacturing tasks on large equipment and in a noisy environment.

6.    Must be able to arrange and schedule work for themselves and co-worker.
7.    Must understand NDT testing acceptability standards.
8.    Must be a good communicator and a team player.
9.    Must be dependable with a good safety record, attendance and performance evaluations.
10.  Must be able to work in all areas of welding shop.
11.  Must be able to build from blueprints and use all fixtures effectively.

Daily Job Activities:
1.  Perform metal arc welding of ladder, torque box, and ladder sections. This includes inside torque box which may cause awkward positioning.
2.  Use hand tools, sanders and grinders.
3.  Operate forklift and cranes.
4.  Operate plasma cutter, shear bar-angle, and iron saw.
5.  Standing, bending and climbing required.  Maximum weight lifted:  75 lbs., min:  5 lbs.

Potential Hazards:
1.  Eye injuries/ultra violet rays.  Welding arc can cause damage to eyes.  Wear welding mask when welding.  Wear eye protection at all times to prevent sanding and welding dust from getting in eyes.
2.  Burns.  Wear PPE when welding to prevent against burns.
3.  Trips/falls.  Make sure that all air hoses are kept clear of aisles.
4.  Heavy lifting.  Ask co-worker for help when lifting heavy objects.

Job Qualifications:
1.    Must meet all the requirements of Welder Apprentice and Welder.
2.    Must be a certified welder.
